France is generally considered a dog-friendly country, but you should nevertheless note the following:
Dogs imported into France must be clearly identifiable, i.e. have a microchip. Alternatively, a tattoo is also recognized if it was carried out before 3 July 2011 and is clearly legible.
Your dog(s) must have a European pet passport in which a veterinarian confirms valid vaccination and identification.
Dogs imported into France must be vaccinated against rabies. In the case of the first vaccination, entry is only possible 21 days after the first vaccination. In France, the annual rabies vaccination booster is mandatory, the three-year rabies vaccination is recognized if the vaccine is specified in the vaccination certificate.
Vaccination against leptospirosis is also recommended!
According to French law, there are first and second category fighting dogs. The import of dogs in the first category is strictly prohibited. Dogs in the second category may only be kept under strict conditions. You can find out more about the dog breeds concerned at the above link
