Tolls in France - this is important to know!

When traveling on the highway, you will have to pay a toll as far as Caen. At the (currently still existing) toll booths, you can either pay by cash, credit card or you can get a Big&Go Batch. This small black box is stuck behind the windshield and opens the barrier as if by magic and with a soft beep. We have one of these batches and are really happy with it. You can order it here: bipandgo

The new flux libre system is now being introduced step by step. For this purpose, the original toll booths are being dismantled and a bridge with sensors is being spanned across the highway. This should ensure faster passage.
The map below shows which routes have already adopted the new system. Further and always up-to-date information can be found here: sanef fluxlibre
The toll must be paid within 72 hours. Here you have the following options:

  1. In one of the approximately 7000 sales outlets that can be found in the Tabac stores. For example, in Baupte opposite the bakery very close to our vacation home. There you have to give your license plate number and pay conveniently by card or cash.
  2. Bip and Go Batch
